My children will be taken away from me if I ask for help.
Given that people receiving mental health services are as likely to be parents as anyone in the general public, it is an unfortunate oversight among mental health professionals that intentional parenting support is not provided as part of standard mental health services. Whereas many people with mental illness feel motivated toward wellness because of the love and relationships they feel for their children, many also fear asking for help for fear that their children will be taken away.
